Plakat

The publishing house “Plakat” was established in Moscow in 1974 as a propaganda division of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union (CPSU). Annually, it produced about 900 political posters and more than 1000 other printed materials for visual agitation, including thematic exhibition sets, portraits, operational photo information releases, postcards, slides, and others.
In 1979, the total circulation of all publications reached 450 million copies.
The publishing house “Plakat” operated until 1991, after which it was renamed “Panorama” and changed its profile, ceasing the mass publication of sheet material.
In 2005-2006, the publishing house was liquidated as part of measures to consolidate state publishing houses.
