Radio Magazine — Soviet Electronics & Ham Radio Journal

Radio («Радио») is the best-known Soviet popular-science magazine on radio engineering and electronics. Published monthly in Moscow under this title since 1946 — and continuing a tradition that goes back to Radiolyubitel (1924) and Radiofront (1930–1941) — it was issued in the USSR as an organ of the Ministry of Communications and DOSAAF, and was awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labour in 1974.

Each issue combined practical construction projects with technical news: receivers and transceivers for radio amateurs, antennas, tube and transistor circuits, audio amplifiers and tape recorders, television repair, measuring instruments and power supplies — and, in the 1980s, microprocessors and home computers. Famous publications include the UW3DI transceiver (1970) and the build-it-yourself computers Mikro-80 (1983) and Radio-86RK (1986).
