Description Vostok Komandirskie Early Model 2214 – Rare Soviet Military Watch
Vostok "Komandirskie" — Early Model (Chistopol)
Overview: One of the earliest Vostok Komandirskie models from the Chistopol Watch Factory. The watch is fully original, professionally serviced by a watchmaker in September 2025, and is ready for wear or display in a collection.
Description
This watch exhibits the austere military styling of the mid-1960s: a chrome-plated brass case, a dark brown dial with a subtle silverish sheen, and large luminous Arabic numerals and hour markers that still glow in the dark. The chrome-plated hands originally contained luminous paint (the lume on the hands has partly worn away with age). The dial is signed with “Командирские” and marked “Чистополь,” characteristic of early army-issued pieces.
Technical Details
- Movement: Vostok 2214 — manual-winding mechanical caliber, 18 jewels. Features: indirect center seconds (driven through an unusual gear train), date aperture with a date corrector mechanism, Poljot shock protection, Glucydur screw balance, yoke winding system. Important: the 2214 does not have a hacking/stop-seconds function.
- Movement specs (summary): approx. 10 lignes (11 with date ring), height 4.30 mm, 18 jewels, 18,000 A/h, lift angle ~46°.
- Case material: Chrome-plated brass.
- Case back: Screw-down stainless steel.
- Dial: Dark brown with silverish reflection; luminous numerals and hour markers (lume still visible in low light).
- Hands: Chrome-plated (original), lume partly worn off.
- Crystal: Domed acrylic/plastic.
- Strap: Vintage-style synthetic strap with buckle (period-style, not original leather but in vintage spirit).
- Case size: 34.5 mm (diameter without crown) × 41 mm (lug-to-lug).
- Lug width: 18 mm.
- Thickness: 9 mm (including crystal).
- Service: Full professional service performed in September 2025 (movement cleaned, lubricated, regulated; case and crystal preserved, original parts retained).
Historical Note
The Komandirskie line was created in 1965 by the Chistopol factory (Vostok) as watches produced for the Soviet Ministry of Defense. Early pieces like this were intended for military officers and issued through military supply channels; they were built for robustness and practicality rather than decor, which is why they remain attractive to collectors today.
Collectibility & Value
- Military provenance: Early Chistopol-issued Komandirskie watches with the “Чистополь” marking and star emblem are sought after by collectors.
- Originality: All parts are original; watches with intact original components have higher collector value.
- Condition & service: Professionally serviced in 2025 — a strong selling point for buyers who want a wearable vintage piece without immediate maintenance costs.
- Technical interest: The 2214 movement is notable for its unusual construction (decentral minute wheel, indirect center seconds and a simple yet clever date mechanism), making it an interesting caliber for enthusiasts of Soviet horology.
